Built in 1760 by Archibald Chessel and now Grade A listed, this Georgian flat has many fine period features including unique decorative plasterwork and cornicing. With a chequered past, it has been at times a refuge for policemen and the playroom for the next door nursery. The mansion block has many associations, from James Boswell and Deacon Brodie to the colourful Bloody Mary’s Close!

Situated in the heart of the Old Town, Edinburgh’s renowned centre, it is a perfect location from which to explore all the city has to offer. Only a short walk to both Holyrood Palace and Edinburgh Castle and within easy walking distance of the main train station and the express bus to the airport.

The Royal Mile contains an excellent range of small specialist shops, grocers and a wealth of traditional and modern bars, bistros and restaurants, all within easy reach of the property.

The ground floor flat comprises: main door to curved entrance hall, large and sunny lounge/dining room, modern breakfasting kitchen, large double bedroom with en suite shower room (a folding door not shown in the photos separates the bedroom from the ensuite), large double bedroom plus extra single bed, separate bathroom with over bath shower. The rates include hot water, electricity, central heating, towels, linen and taxes.

This beautiful apartment is ideal year-round holiday accommodation in Edinburgh, including for the city’s festivals, Christmas, and Hogmanay (New Year) breaks.

Discounted rates for longer stays.

Please note – The adjacent building work has now been completed and the apartment is once again a quiet haven.

Wonderful flat in the Old town, with a number of antique pieces and beautiful cornicing. Would recommend Monteith’s whisky cocktails on the High St. Thanks to the Greatbase team and loved my cup of tea when I arrived!!

  3. Brenda Charters says:

A wonderful apartment, beautifully furnished and equipped and so close to all amenities (bus stop, pubs, etc.) Thanks to Katie who was so helpful and welcoming. Will recommend to friends.

  4. Richard Beardshall says:

The apartment is comfortable, warm and spacious as well as being well equipped and central. Katie was welcoming and kind enough to enable us to check in to the apartment when we arrived a little early.
We enjoyed being able to walk everywhere and there’s always a nice pub or restaurant to pop into when the weather gets too bracing.

  5. Leslie says:

Fabulous apartment in an ideal location. Steps away from everything (pubs, restaurants, shopping, night life, historic sites, parks, transportation), but still very quiet. It was a family favorite. Katie and her team are first-rate and extremely accommodating. Would return in a heart-beat!

  6. Lisa Benson says:

The apartment was wonderful for a small family Christmas. My history-orientated and energtic sister and my folks who just wanted to relax, were all happy with the location of the apartment and the space. It was easy to get groceries, go to all the city sites, buses, and the pubs. Great location. Owners were very easy to work with, even when we were late (twice!!). And they gave helpful advice for groceries and tours (which we used!). A lovely stay- we would all come again!

  7. Marie says:

We loved the flat and the goodies that you left for us! The flat is in a great neighborhood close to everything. It was nice having a washer as we had been on the road for awhile. Loved the sites and restaurants. My adult kids loved Edinburgh and enjoyed the night life there. I defiantly would recommend the flat and would stay again given the opportunity.
