Green Cottage offers comfortable self-catering accommodation in the quiet residential district of Trinity, Edinburgh. Tucked behind the main house and opening onto a calm shared garden, it provides a cosy, private base well suited to both short visits and longer stays in the capital.

This delightful holiday cottage provides a warm, cosy and inviting retreat. Located at the rear of the main house and enclosed within its own private shared garden, the property enjoys a tranquil setting surrounded by a quiet neighbourhood of charming houses, making it an ideal retreat for both short breaks and longer stays in the Scottish capital.

While somewhat further afield than our usual locations in Edinburgh, this wonderful holiday cottage is just a half-hour walk or ten-minute bus ride from the heart of the city and may appeal to families or those planning a more extended vacation.

Interior layout

This self-catering cottage in Edinburgh comfortably sleeps up to five guests across two bedrooms, consisting of one double bedroom and one twin bedroom. The open plan kitchen/living room is traditionally furnished, with beautiful wood ceiling beams. Cosy tartan curtains, soft throws, and a plush rug add warmth to the space. Pick something to read from the well-stocked bookshelves and relax on one of the comfortable sofas, in front of the woodburning stove and the television. There is a shared garden outside the cottage that you can use for relaxation.

The kitchen is finished with modern appliances and fully-equipped for self catering during your time in Edinburgh. The spacious dining table seats up to four, and the living room also features a small desk that can be used as a workspace.

There are two bedrooms in the cottage, one double and one twin. The double bedroom benefits from a skylight and is furnished with a bedside table, lamp and mirror, while the twin bedroom is complemented by a modern floor lamp. The living room also includes a sofa bed, which can be prepared for an additional guest.

The bathroom includes a spacious shower and a towel rail for added convenience.

Towels and linen are supplied and a high chair and travel cot are available by request. Towels and linen are supplied. If you need a travel cot and/or high chair for your little one, please request the travel cot and/or high chair at least three days in advance of your arrival date. Be sure to bring your own linen for the travel cot as we do not have the linen for the cot. The travel cot comes equipped with a standard UK lightweight foldable mattress. However, if you prefer an additional mattress for extra comfort, please bring that along as well.

This holiday cottage is not permitted to host stag or hen parties, nor any other type of party. Smoking is strictly forbidden inside the apartment and in the building. Pets are not permitted to visit or stay.

Around and about

The lovely cottage include a gated driveway for guests arriving by car. For those without, the number 23 bus departs regularly from around the corner and runs right through to the city centre.

Trinity is a charming residential area and only a short stroll from Edinburgh’s seafront. The beach at Wardie Bay, a favourite wild swimming spot with locals, is just a twelve minute walk from the cottage. You will find lovely views of the Fife and the Firth of Forth there, as well as some of Edinburgh’s best seafood restaurants nearby. Loch Fyne Seafood and Grill is excellent, and The Fishmarket, just beside Newhaven Lighthouse, is known for its delicious fish and chips.

A 10 minute walk towards the centre of town will take you to Edinburgh’s wonderful Royal Botanic Gardens, just one of the many things to do while visiting Edinburgh. Nearby, you will find plenty of cafes, shops, and restaurants in the quaint, bustling neighbourhood of Stockbridge, which is also home to a lively Sunday farmers’ market. Past Stockbridge, you will reach the Georgian New Town, with Edinburgh’s Old Town and city centre attractions just beyond.

One member of the booking party must be at least 25 years old.

Important

This Edinburgh holiday apartment is not suitable for stag or hen parties. A damage deposit of £200 is required prior to arrival and, in the event that there is no damage to the apartment, will be fully refunded one week after your departure.

Please note that the sofa bed in the living room is kept folded as a sofa during the day to maximise the living space. If a guest intends to use the sofa bed for sleeping, it will need to be unfolded and made up with the provided linen at bedtime. If you plan to use the sofa bed, please inform us at least 3 days before arrival so we can prepare the linen for you to put on when needed.

Please also be aware that logs for the wood‑burning stove are not provided. If you wish to use the wood-burning stove, fire logs can be purchased from nearby petrol stations.

House rules

  • This apartment accommodates a maximum of 5 guests. No unregistered guests are allowed to visit or stay overnight.
  • Parties, events, and large gatherings of any kind are strictly prohibited. All guests must comply with our other house rules regarding noise and the neighborhood.
  • Please do not engage in any anti-social behaviour. Guests must not behave in a way which causes, or is likely to cause, alarm, distress, nuisance or annoyance to any person; or which amounts to harassment of any person; or causes damage to anyone’s property. This includes high levels of noise and drunken or threatening behaviour, which is strictly prohibited.
  • No pets are allowed.
  • Please be respectful of your neighbours and keep any form of noise to a minimum between the hours of 9:00 pm and 7:30 a.m.
  • Strictly no smoking, vaping, candles, or incense burners. Smoking is not permitted in the apartment or outside the apartment building.

Check-in / Check-out

Check-in is from 16:00 until 22:00, or later by special arrangement.
You will be asked to check-out before 10:30.

It is important to check your email to ensure you have received these instructions before you arrive, as they contain all the necessary details to make your check-in process smooth and efficient. Should you prefer to receive the check-in instructions further in advance, please do not hesitate to let us know. We are more than happy to accommodate your request and ensure you have all the information you need well ahead of time.

Luggage Storage

You are welcome to store your luggage free of charge at our Greatbase Office, located at 24 St Stephen Street, during office hours from Monday to Friday. Please confirm your drop-off and collection time if you would like to use this service.
