Around and about

In 1767, James Craig designed Edinburgh’s New Town, divided from the Old Town by the Nor Loch. Princes Street was part of this grand design, so named to honour the sons of King George III. One of Edinburgh’s most iconic streets, many of the buildings are listed and boast some incredible architecture. Look out for number 95 Princes Street, now Hector Russell’s kilt shop, the last surviving completely intact Georgian town house.

From this incredible apartment all of Edinburgh’s most interesting and popular sites are just a short stroll away. Step out of the apartment and you are on the most popular shopping street, and crossing the road takes you into Princes Street gardens, a haven of green tranquillity and popular in the summer for a stroll and an ice cream from Luca’s! A short walk takes you past the excellent Scottish National Portrait Gallery to the many restaurants, shops, and bars along fashionable George Street. Just beyond, you’ll reach Edinburgh Waverley Railway Station – particularly convenient for those arriving by train – and the many historic attractions of Edinburgh’s Old Town, including Edinburgh Castle (seen from the window of the apartment!) St Giles Cathedral and the hustle and bustle of the Royal Mile.
